The #ItIsNotTooLate seagrass beds project leaded by NGO Lončari , dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the vital seagrass beds in Croatia, has achieved remarkable recognition by being the only Croatian project selected among 50 finalists in the prestigious New European Bauhaus competition, which saw 530 entries from across Europe. This initiative focuses on the delicate ecosystems of the Zrmanja and Bijela river basins and the Karin Sea, emphasizing the ecological importance of seagrass species such as Zostera marina, Zostra noltei, and Cymodocea nodosa. These seagrass beds not only play a critical role in reducing pollution and enhancing biodiversity but also sustain the quality of life for marine species and local communities.
The project combines scientific research, community-driven efforts, and artistic engagement to drive impactful results. Activities range from volunteer river-cleaning actions to multilingual presentations and an international public call for artists to create an installation from collected waste. This art installation will serve as a permanent, thought-provoking symbol of humanity’s impact on nature, reminding everyone that it is indeed not too late to take action.
Adriathink played a pivotal role in supporting this project through strategic digital marketing initiatives. Our contributions included content creation, campaign channel mapping, and seeding, as well as developing a seven-language outreach campaign. Leveraging advanced SEO strategies, digital PR, and link-building efforts, Adriathink ensured the campaign reached a broad and diverse audience. These efforts culminated in receiving 46 artistic proposals. Through this initiative, the project of an art installation by the American artist Dodd Holsapple, called “See Glass Again,” was selected and implemented in collaboration with the local community through a co-creation process. The installation highlights the beauty of sustainable living and the importance of collective action.
With its focus on restoring and protecting nature, fostering community awareness, and integrating innovative artistic expressions, #ItIsNotTooLate sea grass beds is a true embodiment of the values championed by the New European Bauhaus. We are proud to see this project represented the only project form Croatia on New European Bauhaus champions finals 2024 in category Reconnecting with nature, advocating for sustainable solutions and inspiring change.
